Area around Mt. Rainier
We accessed Mt. Rainier from the southern side. There are other access points to the mountain, but this was the way we went. There are a number of little tiny towns in the immediate area, the largest of which is the little town of Eatonville. "Largest" may be a bit misleading as the population is just a little over 2000.
There are numerous lakes, beautiful mountains, and tons of places to be alone if one so wished. I am sure there are lots of mice around and the fishing in the lakes would have been fun, but noooo the humans intervened again.
One of the interesting things we found was the artistic community around the town of Elbe, where our RV park was. There was an artist who worked with wood - mostly chainsaw sculpture. Another artist did some fantastic metal sculpture. Mom and Dad just had a lot of fun looking at their unique works.
We are used to going to the coast and seeing signs that say Tsunami Evacuation Route. Well with Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens so close we saw these signs:

So now Mom wants to make up a t-shirt that has all manner of evacuation type of signs, like tsunami, hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc. Humans are really wierd!
